make yours

I learned how to make my own hair accessories from stylifiq blog  a few weeks ago and have made three headbands already. For more DIYs visit her blog http://www.stylifiq.blogspot.com. So yesterday I went to the salon and had my hair braided. I love my new braids because they are thick and that means I wont have problems when undoing them since  I always undo my hair by myself. Check out my stylifiq head band.

I don't own many skirts and the few I have are short (above the knee) not very short though. Lately have been craving maxi skirts and as I was searching for some from the internet I came across these Indian skirts. I love Indian stuff very much check out a post on saris here. Hope by the end of this month I will add a maxi skirt to my wardrobe.

Green hills

Friday last week we had a class trip to a water treatment plant in the outskirt of Kisumu town. The place has a low population mainly due to the hilly terrain which is not suitable for settlement. Despite the hilly terrain it is very beautiful and the river with a water fall at the slopes of the hill makes it more beautiful.

LET'S TAKE A WALK

Today i didn't have much to do so I decided to take a walk. Being an environmentalist green places cannot be left unnoticed. This fence is just perfect for the background.

More photos please..................

This is my favourite sweater top for now, I love its bright colour and the fact that it goes well with my skinny jeans.

Enough photos for today and remember to go green always close the taps after fetching the water, switch off lights when you don't need them e.t.c

INDIAN BAGS

Am in love with Indian stuff, now it's not the sari but the Indian bag. I got a light blue embroidered bag I don't know whether it suits to be called an Indian bag but its cute such that I want to carry it everyday, photos coming soon.

I'm planning to get myself more Indian bags so I decided to search for different designs and this is what I found.

Lovely Sunday to you all.

SARI/ SAREE

Apart from my love for environment I also love fashion (now you know). The Indian Sari has become common among Kenyans especially at weddings. They are available in every possible colours and flowy fashion fabric thus giving a perfect look to the wearer. It's high time I add a Sari to my closet.

POLYTHENE BAGS OR KIONDO

How do you dispose your polythene bags, most people burn them while others throw them into the dustbins. Polythene bags do not decompose therefore they end up piling in the dumpsites. Maybe a Kiondo will solve this problem.
I took some photos of my mum’s kiondos made by my grandmother. Kiondos are durable and can be made in different colours, patterns and size to suit one’s style.
Get a kiondo today and reduce polythene waste.

SLOW GLOBAL WARMING PART 2

It is possible for us to save the earth from global warming and save money at the same time at home and at work. The steps we will take to protect our environment can make our lives better in many ways; our grandchildren, their children and the future generations in general will thank us for living sustainably. We need to find ways to save energy and reduce air pollution which has led to environmental problems such as global warming and climate change.
Here are some simple things we can do to save the earth, money and live a happier, healthier life.
• Unplug appliances when you are not using them
• Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible and save the energy you would use to warm water or the energy to be used by a washing machine.
• Use a clothesline to dry your clothes and save the energy used during machine drying.
• Install a low-flow showerhead in your bathroom to save water.
• Plant drought resistant native plants in your garden since they require minimal watering.
• Walk to work or bike to reduce risk of obesity.
• Use a water filter to purify tap water instead of purchasing bottled water since bottled water generates container waste.
• When travelling or at work carry reusable water bottle maybe aluminum rather than plastic.
• Borrow from libraries instead of buying personal books and movies this saves the ink and paper that goes into printing and also helps save money.
• Buy in bulk to save money and packaging at the same time reduce waste.
• Wear clothes that don’t need to be dry cleaned and cut down on toxic chemical use and save money.
• Purchase high quality long-lasting products, you will not have to replace them frequently and this means less waste.
• Keep your electronics out of the trash. You can donate or recycle them when the time comes (E-waste contains mercury and other heavy metals be careful)
• Make your own cleaning products and save money and packaging. This is very easy for more information email me.
Let’s go green as much as possible and save mother earth.

Finally I have a tree nursery

I have always wanted to have my own tree nursery and finally I have achieved that. . Establishment of a tree nursery is one of the ways in which global warming can be slowed down since more tree are going to be planted. I have posted some photos of my tree nursery although the seedlings have not yet germinated but I will post the other photos when they germinate.
Lovely day to you all.
